THE GARDEN NOW

IT'S SUMMER AT THE GARDEN

LIGHT, COLOR AND FRESHNESS

| Aquatic plants

The aquatic plants are to be found in the ponds and pools of the Garden. Some are underwater, while others float on the surface, with or without bedded roots. In the Muntanyeta pond we can see reeds, yellow or Siberian irises, while the swamp cypress rises up from the centre. The most interesting plant collection is housed in the greenhouse pond, lying on the eastern wall of the Garden: the large central flowerpot holds a flowering lotus, while the lateral pots hold bulrushes, thalia, papyrus and pontederia, commonly known as pickerel weed. There are also water-lilies, alocasias and colocasias (commonly known as Elephant Ears). Summer is the season when the greenhouse pool is at its fullest, decked with lotus flowers and water-lilies.
