BIOLOGÍA MOLECULAR
La línia d’investigació preferent del Laboratori de Biologia Molecular és l’obtenció de marcadors moleculars per tal de fer-los servir en la identificació taxonòmica, la sistemàtica, l’estructura genètica poblacional, la filogeografia i l’evolució i la conservació d’organismes vegetals endèmics del Mediterrani, amb especial atenció als que tenen poblacions fragmentades i que habiten a la península Ibèrica i a les illes del Mediterrani occidental.
N’hi ha altres d’investigació aplicada relacionades amb el frau alimentari (detecció de conservants d’origen vegetal), l’autentificació de plantes medicinals i la identificació d’espècies incloses en el conveni CITES mitjançant tècniques moleculars.
